Welcome to The Wimborne Orchestra

We are a society with over 80 members who meet on a Monday night in Corfe Mullen to rehearse together. All ages are welcome.

  • Starting Rehearsals!
We resumed rehearsals for the Autumn Term on September 6th. Restrictions have been greatly eased, meaning that we are unlikely to be affected by any upper limit on numbers and are gradually getting back to something like normal. New members are therefore most welcome. (Please let the Conductor or the Secretary know that you are […]
  • Future Plans
We cannot say yet whether there will be a Christmas Concert at the end of the Autumn Term: the current restriction on numbers means that there is plenty of room for players, but insufficient for an audience.

  • Do you play – or are you learning – a musical instrument?

  • Do you like the idea of playing for the fun of it with a friendly group of people?

  • Would you like to play in an orchestra, but are a bit (or completely!) out of practice?

As a community orchestra we aim never to turn anyone away, or to have limits on the number of instruments in any section. We do not require any specific grade or level of experience, just an ability to read music, a reasonable knowledge of the instrument, and a willingness to join in and make music with others.

*At the moment we are looking particularly for Double Basses and Trombones, but all orchestral and band instruments are welcome. We also have a double bass and several violins available for loan to any potential member lacking one.

All adult members pay a monthly subscription of £5 by standing order. School pupils and students in full-time education currently pay NO SUBSCRIPTION! We do have several members of school age, and would be very pleased to welcome more.

For further information about the orchestra please see the Contacts page, ring one of the numbers listed, or join our open Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/groups/42649044800/ .
